Something Exciting from Sun
i’m a bit late on this, but Sun Microsystems (the people who do Java) have release OpenSolaris, which is a free, open source operating system. several of my friends were very excited about this, but I do not have a free computer to install it on. 
though i suppose i could dual boot, but i’d rather not have to get into that.
