Google Pages Beta Test pt. 1

So I was accepted into the Google Pages Beta Test, and let me tell you, it’s pretty nice. It’s very easy to use, and very heavy use of AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML). Unfortunately, because of it’s reliance on javascript, it does not work in Opera.

I have just run my newly created page through a validation test, which it failed. (i’m not really surprised. For all that I like google, they never really have been one to be standards compliant.) This is really only important to the truly geeky like myself.

Currently, there are 41 different looks you can choose for your page layout, and 4 different preset ways to lay out your page. The styles vaugely remind me of blogger (which google owns), though I’m not sure that they are the same as the ones supplied there.

So far I have really enjoyed this Beta, mainly because of it’s easy to use WYSIWYG interface. It has been several years since I have made a site using such a type of editor, and I thoroughly have enjoyed it thus far. I shall continue to report on this as new things arise.
