umm, weee.

So, alot has happened in the past several days. but to be kind, I’ll keep this post relevant to this weekend only.

First, I went to go see A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the shakespeare tavern thanks to  squirrel. I had a marvelous time, and the show mad me laugh more than i have at much in a while.  I enjoyed it quite thoroughly, so thank you squirrel.

After that, I found out a cousin of mine had made a suicide attempt (though it appears it was more of a attempt to get attention). I won’t go into details, but basically he’s getting way more than he was bargaining for.

Following all of this information, to my dismay, I discovered that squirrel (yes, the one that took me to the tavern), had gone a bit crazy saturday night, ended up cutting herself and going to the hospital, followed by rehab. she’s doing better now, but this did not help.

Now, my mother always says that bad things always come in threes. While i don’t generally beleive in superstition, today happens to be the exception. I received the followinf from the ATML:

I received an email(see below) from a Lost Colony Alum who is friends
with Ken & Kee Strong in Chapel Hill, NC. Ken was with the Alliance
Theater & Kee was in Laughing Matters with me back in the early 90″s.
I don’t have any more information, but you can contact me if you want
to be “kept in the loop” – Hugs, Leslie

Hey, my friends. I am asking y’all for your wonderful prayers to help
my dear buddy, Ken Strong. Ken is a PlayMakers Repertory Company
member, a fantastic actor and teacher, and a sweet, wonderful, crazy
friend. Last Thursday, he was diagnosed with a mass on his brain. They
performed brain surgery the same day and found that it is a tumor. We
do not know what type of tumor it is yet. We are all terrified and
shocked. If you could, please whisper Ken’s name and have a good
thought. Thank you.

Now, to most of you, this would seem unrelated, except that it isn’t. Ken Strong was my audition teacher at Firespark and where I first met Squirrel. The man is amazing, and this does not make me feel any better.

Happy birthday to me.

Damn! Not the best way to start your birthday off. I’m glad that your cousin’s attempt was only an attempt and not a success (if you can call that sort of thing a “success”). I don’t know what I would do if someone I loved tried that sort of thing. It would be horrible, to say the least.

I have some friends who are cutters. Is that what Squirrel is, or was this some sort of accidental cutting? I don’t understand cutting, and it troubles me to not understand it and try to be supportive and helpful to someone who is doing that. Gah! So much frustration for you today!

Regarding Ken, was the surgery to get rid of the tumor or was it just a biopsy?

Anyways, try to have a happy birthday today, even in spite of all of this.

Oh gosh. I am so sorry, Alex. I’m glad you had fun @ the tavern at least. I had NO idea Ken was going through that. Scary stuff… as to your cousin, I’m glad he’s still here.

In response to my ordeal, I do self-injure and what happened was a freak reaction to a sleeping pill that caused me to lose control of everything and I ended up snapping out of it to my lacerated arms and legs. But rehab really helped and I don’t think I’ll be doing SI anymore!

You know I love you very much and I’m sorry all this happened on/close to your birthday. I hope you have a fantastic time in Germany. And when you get back, we can go see V for Vendetta. ^_^
    *hugs*

Wow, Alex. So sorry. Gotta watch cutters. They always say, “I’m not suicidal. The physical pain just distracts me from my emotional pain,” and “I never cut that deep.” Then, they wind up Baker-Acted with slits wrists. And just so ya know that I KNOW what I’m talking about: I’m a former cutter, and I once slit my wrist. I’ve never gone back to it. My scar reminds me not to.
